prevent bone lossHalf of our body is protein-based because half of it is comprised of muscle. Our blood contains hemoglobin which is also protein-based. Vitamins without protein are insufficient to repair damaged tissue. Protein is also very helpful in strengthening bones, it helps protect osteoporosis. The calcium in our body is being transported via protein. It has been noted that protein was a key structural component of bone. So the bottom line of this is our body needs protein on a daily basis and we must need to know where to get protein.

If we consume more animal-based protein, the more bone mineral density increases, but when vegetable-based protein is consumed, bone mineral density decreases. Most importantly, the bone matrix itself is composed of protein-based collagen and Parent Essential Oils (PEOs).

A study published in 2006 in the medical journal Osteoporosis International found that an Atkins-type diet had no effect on bone loss or bone integrity. Diets were studied for three months and I showed no significant difference in bone turnover compared to non-dieters. The researchers in this study had a little knowledge that the important structure the bone matrix is made of protein and PEOs.

These studies show that vegetable-based protein is substantially inferior to animal-based protein in preventing bone loss. Animal-based protein helped stop bone loss. If you consume adequate animal-based protein (and enough PEOs) every day for maximum bone health, there is no worry of osteoporosis. So it is recommended that we have to consume a combination of animal-based plus non-animal-based protein each day. Animal-based protein sources are eggs, cheese and dairy products, seeds and nuts.
