EczemaMany diabetic patients are suffering from eczema and often times, PEOs help because of the significant amount of Parent omega 6 in the epidermis.

In the report written by David F. Horrobin in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition in 1993 brought several shortcomings of conventional diabetes “management” to light:

“Perhaps the main problem in the management of diabetes is the development of long-term damage to the retina, the kidneys, the cardiovascular system, and the peripheral nerves. Although there are many hypotheses, none has found universal acceptance and treatment is generally unsatisfactory. Good control of blood glucose may be beneficial, but many well-controlled diabetes develop severe complications whereas some poorly controlled diabetes do not.”

Horrobin also said that, “It is possible that the increased requirement for EFAs is an important factor in the development of diabetic complications. Neurophysiologically detectable damage to nerve function occurs in more than 90% of diabetics. The neuropathy leads to many further complications including skin ulceration, limb amputation, impotence n and bladder, gastrointestinal and cardiovascular disturbances.”

Dr. David F. Horrobin’s research was brilliant about EFAs, particularly Parent omega 6 and its metabolites. The first sign of an LA abnormality is often skin ailments, because the major EFA component of skin is Parent omega 6 and there is no Parent omega 3 or omega 3 derivatives in the skin. Fish oil is not helpful; it aggravates the skin problems rather than alleviate them. So it was suggested to try unadulterated PEOs first. EFA requirements increase in the diabetic patient, making unadulterated Parent omega 6 and its derivatives even more important to these patients.
