I am finally able to post this two weeks later!

It comes with much sadness that I must report the passing away of my best companion you could ask for, Abraham. Abe waited until we got back home to Scottsdale and spent two days back on familiar grass and surroundings before passing away in my arms on Father’s Day morning. He was 3-months short of 20-years old.

Abe traveled with us everywhere and loved it. He had his special place in his bed in the back seat and could travel for hours without requiring a stop. We learned from his different sounds whether he was hungry, thirsty, or needed to do his business. All the valets knew him as he slept in the car whether we were dining or in a store with the air conditioner on in the summer or windows down in the winter.

When we adopted him at 14 from our friends who moved out of state. We immediately changed his diet from dry processed food to food that we ate except for vegetables. Abe loved what we called Puppy Chicken from Costco, cheeseburgers we grilled or even the In-N-Out Flying Dutchman with cheese, no salt.

He also loved all beef bologna, turkey, and of course shredded and string cheese. Give him a ribeye or tomahawk and he was in heaven. For dessert he liked popcorn when we made it and loved vanilla ice cream.

He also had his favorite treats that we bought in bulk because we were always worried, we might not be able to get them again.

Of course, we immediately started him on our all-organic plant seed oils on his food daily. Shortly thereafter we rebranded it to Abe’s Oils for the veterinarian and pet owner’s market. Abe’s legacy will live on through Abe’s Oils.

We almost lost him when we first moved into our place in the desert, I left the side door to the pool area open while I was cleaning the pool deck and moving things around. Somehow, he went out the door and down the driveway for a walk. We had only been living there maybe 30-days and it was middle of summer and all the neighbors were in their winter homes. When I discovered he was gone I hopped on my bike and drove the neighborhood with no luck.

I knew it had only been about 15-minutes and with his small legs he couldn’t go far. Couldn’t find him so we posted REWARD flyers everywhere. Even the local police helped look. I immediately called Alex and said, run a FB ad and post within 5 miles of where we lived. All I could think of was, he’s a Shih Tzu and maybe someone took him and would keep him. But he had the cyst on his back which required care so was thinking happy thoughts. We also posted in every FB group in the surrounding area.

That night still no Abe. I hardly slept at all worrying about him. The next night I’m at the bowling alley when I get a call from someone saying their friends had taken the dog to their church and asked what they should do. Long story short, the pool man from two doors down from our house saw him and was worried. Took him home because he too realized most people were gone for the summer and it was over 100 degrees out.

We connected and I got Abe back that night because of FB. Funny thing I was only about 10 minutes from their house which was at least 30 minutes from ours. The man was in tears when he gave him back because he and his family had fallen in love with him in just 24-hours. He even came by a couple of times to see Abe when he cleaned the neighbors pool.

Abe lived a long and pain free life, including undergoing major surgery to remove a dermatoid cyst and a tear in his side just 2 months ago. He was back to normal after 48-hours with no pain meds needed.

Thanks for allowing me to share his journey these last 5 or 6 years. I believe I have more photos and videos of him than parents have of their kids (over 1200 in just the last 6 years)…lol I was always looking for just the right one to show his personality and fun loving nature.

He is now with his brother Jeremiah playing in the fields and waiting for me to join him at the Rainbow Bridge!!!!!

His legacy will live on through https://www.abesoils.com

Thank you for allowing me to share!
